Getting Geard Up for the 2005 Season!

2005-04-01 23:01 by Derek Pollock

April 1st, 2005 Derek Pollock

It has been a well rested off season as we enjoyed time with the family and even had time to break away for some NASCAR racing in Daytona plus some dirt track races for the Winternatinals.

Like usual, we left the preparation of the 2T car for the 31st Annual World of Wheels at the end of March, which attracted over 45,000 spectators at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. We handed out over 800 hero cards and 600 tattoos, very positive feedback on the new care wrap we applied to the car and sponsors that attended were very pleased with the results.

Our plan this season is to only race at our home track - Victory Lane Speedway as the Enduro Challenge Series now has 7 dates plus 5 - 10 Street Stock races to showcase our sponsors.

Our youngest member of the 2T team, my oldest daughter Taylor, will be starting her second year of go kart racing at Gimli, Manitoba.

Check back again for results and more victories that are planned early and often.

POLLOCK ENDS RACE SEASON IN STYLE AT HOME

2004-09-27 23:09 by Derek Pollock

September 27th, 2004 Derek Pollock

Total Domination!

Entering the Northern 100 at our home track, Victory Lane Speedway in Winnipeg, we had locked up the NOPA Pure Stock national points the week before at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND. This final points race was for fun as the pressure was off and the crew could concentrate on the car and put a winning set up under me for the race.

Coming into the Northern 100 with a two-year streak on the line winning this event, it was going to be challenging as 18 cars came from six regional tracks to give it a shot against the 2T machine. The Pollock Brothers both won their qualifying heat races and started side-by-side 6th & 7th in the feature race. I moved away cleanly and took the lead on lap three with Clayton close behind, but this wasn't to be his night as exiting off turn two, his left side axle came out of the car and ended his night early. We went on to win by a straightaway and this time did not spin out on the last corner like three weeks before in the Enduro race.

We finished with 1339 points for our top 25 races on the season, which is a 53.48 point average out of 56 possible points per race. I would like to invite you all out to the last event of the year on October 2nd at 2 pm at Victory Lane which will be Cheaters Day - look for us once again in the winners circle.

CHAMPION ONCE AGAIN IN ENDURO CAR

2004-09-14 23:08 by Derek Pollock

September 14th, 2004 Derek Pollock

What a sensational year so far and we are still not finished as we are in reach of the National NOPA Pure Stock points championship which winds up at Victory Lane Speedway on Saturday, September 25th at 2 PM.

After the Enduro championship race was postponed due to the record amounts of rain, it was rescheduled to run Thursday, September 9th under the lights. We started on the pole, as it was a straight up start based where you were in the standings. We bolted off to an early lead as the game plan was to run as hard as the car would let us and the strategy worked due to the best prepared race track I have ever raced on at Victory Lane for an Enduro race.

We found the 2T car battling with my brother with 60 laps remaining out of the 200 for the lead and it was bumper to bumper for those 60 laps. The fans were treated to some real racing as we were dicing through lapped traffic with Clayton clearing the way.

With 5 laps remaining I passed the 1R car for the lead and built up a straightaway lead only to come off turn #4 for the checkered flag slightly loose and sideways spinning the car out only 25 feet shy of the finish line. We started it back up and wound up finishing second and lost $ 1200 for that mental error. At least we won the full size points championship as this was out main goal from the onset of the season out of 55 entered drivers. While parking the car against the front stretch wall doing a burnout, the crew came by to spray me down with some champagne. What a great moment!

I would like to thank all my family, pit crew, sponsors and fans for one heck of a dominating season. We completed all but 9 laps out of the 1000 ran.

See you all on the 25th of September to put the icing on the season with another championship, as this one will also be special out of 60 entered drivers competing 99% of them being from the States, wouldn't it be great if a Canadian took home the hardware!

IT ALL COMES DOWN TO THE FINAL ENDURO RACE

2004-08-18 23:44 by Derek Pollock

August 18, 2004 Derek Pollock

What a dream season it has been so far! Leading the Victory Lane Enduro point standings from the first race of the year and it will all be decided on the 300 lap Championship race on September 4th at 6 pm at VLS.

We started out last Saturday's race down 4 regular pit crew members and had to scramble to fill the void. On the first lap the 2T machine was blind sided and t-boned on the right side. I decided to make a quick entrance into the pits to survey the damage and the crew said to go back as it looked fine. This put us immediately in last place - 42nd and we ended up picking off positions to finish up 4th on the night due to great pit stops by the crew. We are now leading the points by one point.

Sunday the 15th, we continued our winning ways by traveling down to Rocket Speedway in Hallock, MN and brought back the first place hardware in a dominating win. At one point the 2T machine had a straightaway lead but it was tightened up due to 4 consecutive caution flags.

This weekend we are traveling down with the family to race Thursday at the Norman County Raceway in Ada, MN - Saturday and Sunday back at the Rocket Speedway in Hallock, MN for the Harvest Special. Hope the winning streak continues to clinch the NOPA Pure Stock Points title before we head to the last race of the year back in Winnipeg on September 25th.

MECHANICAL PROBLEMS END STREAK

2004-07-30 18:17 by Derek Pollock

July 30, 2004 Derek Pollock

After 16 consecutive races in the Pure Stock and Enduro divisions of either finishing 1st or 2nd in all of our heat and feature races, we have had two DNF's in three races. With our second visit back to the best prepared track in the NOPA region - Ada, MN we were leading the race with 3 laps remaining when the rear end blew out. The following day Clayton helped me change his rear end out of his car in and it resulted in a double points win in Greenbush, MN and then it too blew up in Hallock, MN the next night. This followed a teardown for the top five finishers where we were teched to be 100% legal to the rules!

We finally fixed the car and captured another come from starting last for the heat win followed by a second place feature finish in Ada, MN last night. Hope this is a start of another 16-race streak.

Currently the 2T race car is leading the Enduro points championship in Winnipeg, has the highest point average in the NOPA Pure Stock division and is in the top 10 in points in two other tracks.

2T CLIMBING TO THE TOP IN NATIONAL POINTS

2004-07-19 18:56 by Derek Pollock

July 19, 2004 Derek Pollock

Entering this weekend of NOPA racing, we have decided to go for the National Points Championship. To date we have either finished first or second in every qualifying heat race and every feature event. This has boosted our point average to the top of the chart.

Traveling down to Ada, MN last Thursday turned out to be a good decision, starting from the tail of the heat race due to showing up after the draw cut off, we finished in second place only 6 inches from the win. In the feature we drew 9th starting position but ended up second by a half a car length. Hats off to the track in Ada for a great show, as we will be back.

It was then off to River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND Saturday night for the second of two NOPA challenge races. We also picked up a second in the heat race but as luck would have it we won the feature event along with a great gift package from Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, MN.

WEEKEND OF RACING HAS COMPETITION TALKING

2004-07-14 00:17 by Derek Pollock

July 13, 2004 Derek Pollock

Entering the third of five Victory Lane Speedway Enduro series race, Derek Pollock was looking for big things out of himself, his car and especially his crew. The 40-car field for the 200-lap enduro was another runner up place finish due to fuel management by the winner. A one stop fuel race was the difference but even with the added stop, the 2T car was only one lap behind. This means an 8-lap lead with two races to go.

On Sunday the 11th, Derek decided to venture down to Warren, MN for their State Fair race and he was glad he did. Winning his heat race after an altercation with another car which caused some bodywork repairs, Derek started third for the 17-car feature. Racing around the 2-3-4-5 spot most of the early part of the race, Derek quickly found his groove and moved into second position. He found himself finishing up second to the winner who was later found to be a top ranked Late Model Driver - Joey Peterson who was disqualified for jumping the restart three times and an illegal driver change.

We will be racing in Ada, MN Thursday the 15th, and Grand Forks, ND Saturday the 17th. See at the races!

ANOTHER FEATURE WIN TIGHTENS THE NOPA POINTS BATTLE

2004-06-28 23:34 by Derek Pollock

June 27, 2004 Derek Pollock

It was a busy weekend of racing in the states this weekend starting Friday night helping out Scott Brown in his Late Model car in Grand Forks, ND. We came back to pick up our car and ran our first race in Greenbush, MN which resulted in a runner up finishing position in the feature on the Mid-Season Champion night. We came home and headed back out Sunday morning with a change of crewmembers for a late start, which had us missing the heat race. We started dead last 13th, dodged a couple of wrecks and had the lead with 8 laps to go and never looked back.

Come out this Thursday - Canada Day to see Derek's 2T car race with the Street Stock drivers at Victory Lane Speedway at 7:30 pm. Hope to share a beverage with you in the pits after the races.

POLLOCK'S 2T WINS AGAIN IN HALLOCK, MN

2004-06-14 03:31 by Derek Pollock

June 13, 2004 Derek Pollock

After a long and tiring Enduro race on the Saturday, we decided to try our luck again and make it down for a NOPA Pure Stock race in Hallock, MN. We changed tires for this race and it set us back as we were late for the start. We made it in time for our heat-qualifying race, starting last and passing for the win with two laps to go.

For the feature, we picked the #4 starting position out of 13 drivers and moved into second on the first lap, For 10 laps we battled door handle to door handle until I passed the leader on the bottom to score our second win of the season. I would like to thank my dad, Larry for coming down and helping with my winning effort as we noticed a loose upper ball joint 5 minutes before the feature and were able to fix it in time.

FYI The payout and trophy are on hold until next week as they are performing a random fuel test to the top 5 cars, we use Mohawk Premium 94 Octane - no problems there!

Enduro Runner-up Finish Strengthens Points Lead

2004-06-13 11:55 by Derek Pollock

June 12, 2004 Derek Pollock

This was our second of five Enduro championship races at Victory Lane Speedway in Winnipeg, and the 2T car was a strong top runner all day long. During the race that had 43 entries, we were involved in a couple of fender rubs, which resulted in two rear cut tires. With the blistering pit crew, we were able to make up 7 laps on the leader but fell one lap short of the win completing 199 of 200 laps. This has placed us top in the points chase with a 3-lap cushion.

If you are interested in coming out to our next race on July 10, Saturday at 6 PM, please give me an email or call for some extra tickets. I would like to thank all of our sponsors for their continued support! Contact Derek at (204) 897 5748

ENDURO VICTORY IN HAMILTON, ND

2004-06-11 10:39 by Derek Pollock

June 6, 2004 Derek Pollock

Enduro race number two and finally a win! Conditions were perfect and our first time at this historic track just 20 minutes across the border in North Dakota. There were 5 Winnipeg driver along with 13 local competitors from Hamilton that raced for 150 laps. Since the Winnipeg Enduro cars had an advantage with our car rules, we were handicapped from the start with a mandatory pit stop for fuel and a 1 lap deficite. Let just say that with the 2T pit crew and another 12 second pit stop, we took the checkers by four laps over second place. A great payout and finally an end to the dry spell for Enduro wins.

Hope to see you all this weekend, June 12th at 6 pm at Victory Lane Speedway in Winnipeg if the rain holds off, if not it will be Sunday the 13th at 4 pm for the second of our Enduro series races for 200 laps.

POLLOCK BROTHERS FINISH 1-2 AGAIN IN ENDURO

2004-05-31 03:31 by Derek Pollock

May 8th, 2004 Derek Pollock

It was a great day for Enduro racing at Victory Lane Speedway with the conditions being as close to perfect as possible on this terribly wet start to the racing season. In the Full Size Enduro races there were 38 competitors entered for the 200 laps of non-stop competition. Derek started second last due to a poor draw and Clayton in the 4th position. Derek didn't see Clayton for the first 2/3 of the race as they were on the same lap even with one session of pit stops. With 20 laps to go Clayton snuck by Derek which was for the eventual win and Derek finished a straightaway behind in second. Even with two pit stops, the Pollock brothers finished two laps up on the rest of the field.

Come by and visit us at the next Enduro June 12th at 6:00 pm where the brothers will duel it out again to the finish. Printcrafters will be sponsoring this race and there will be tons of handouts to the fans from their many sponsors at this race. Limited tickets are available if you still require - please email Derek!
